Founding Full Stack Engineer

Engineering · San Francisco · Full time, in person

Hi, we’re Sree and Isaac, the founders of Zero.

The wealthiest households in America have teams that see their full financial picture, coordinate tax and investment decisions, and act. Everyone else is left to connect the pieces across accounts, advisors, tax returns, and spreadsheets. Zero is an AI agent built to bring that continuous attention to every American. Today it finds and explains valuable moves. We are building the systems that will let it carry them out.

Why we are building Zero

Personal finance was Sree’s second job for nearly a decade. He built infrastructure at NVIDIA, founded a company acquired by Harvey, and was a part of Harvey’s early engineering team. Through all of it, he spent nights learning how to manage equity, investments, retirement accounts, and taxes. He built spreadsheets, paid advisors, and became the person friends came to with financial questions.

Knowing all of that did not protect him. Had he and his wife married 45 days later, they would have saved about $20,000 in taxes. He found out only after we had built an early version of Zero.

Isaac came to this from a different place. His family lost everything in 2008, and he entered adulthood without a financial playbook. He taught himself how to build and protect wealth, then worked closely with wealth management and accounting businesses at Alpine Investors. He saw how much skilled advisors could do. He also saw how many decisions still went unattended. Even with everything he had learned, mistakes in managing his own investments cost him more than $50,000.

What Zero is already finding

One member had $150,000 sitting idle across their accounts. Zero surfaced it so they could decide what needed to stay available and what could be put to work. For another, Zero modeled a stock option exercise that could avoid a projected $369,000 AMT bill, potentially preserving far more of the equity they had worked to earn. And when a member needed $450,000 for a personal emergency, Zero mapped a way to get it across accounts without triggering capital gains tax.

Each of those members had a real decision to make. We want Zero to help them see their options clearly, then carry out the choice they make.

What you will build

We have built how Zero sees and reasons across someone’s finances. Now we are building how it acts. When Zero finds a move worth making, a member needs to understand why, set the limits, and trust that the trade, transfer, or tax action happens correctly. We are looking for an engineer who can build that path end to end, from the experience a member sees to the systems that carry it through.

  • Approvals and execution. Show what Zero proposes, why, and the dollar impact. Build the permissions, APIs, and data models that carry supported actions through, handle failures, and leave a clear record of what happened.
  • Onboarding and the first answer. Bring accounts, documents, and goals together so a member gets a useful answer in dollars quickly, with questions only when the answer depends on them.
  • The household view. Make cash, investments, equity, and taxes legible together, with every proposed move reflected across the plan.
  • Experiences beyond one screen. Build dependable components for app experiences, model-generated interfaces, texts, emails, receipts, and tax documents.

In your first 90 days, you will improve the speed and clarity of the existing product, own onboarding end to end, and help ship the approval flow.

Who you are

  • You have shipped a consumer product end to end and can explain the product and engineering choices behind it.
  • You are excellent in React and TypeScript and comfortable owning the APIs, data models, and backend work behind what you build.
  • You are comfortable building agentic systems, and clear-eyed about where a model belongs in a decision and where it does not.
  • You have product judgment. You know what to show, what to simplify, and how to make the logic behind a consequential decision clear to the member.
  • You talk to users and let what you learn change what you build. You like the pace and ownership of a small team.
